Online therapy in Texas, from a Houston-based therapist

Safer Waters Therapy is fully online. Every session is a private, secure video call from wherever you are in Texas: your living room, your car, your office after hours. Here's what that looks like and why it works.

Why online

Not a compromise

No commute, no waiting room

Houston traffic is not therapeutic. Meeting from home gives you back the hour on either side of the session, which makes it far easier to keep showing up.

Privacy an office can't match

No one sees you walk in. You choose the room, the time, and who knows. For many people that's the difference between starting and not starting.

Works when your body doesn't

Chronic illness, pain, fatigue, a new baby, a bad grief day. None of them cancel an online session.

Same care, same evidence

Research finds video therapy as effective as in-person care for the concerns I treat. The relationship and the approach matter. The room doesn't.

Online sessions are how I see clients in Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and across the Houston area, as well as the rest of Texas.

What you need

Four things, none of them hard

  1. 01

    Find a private spot

A closed door, a parked car, a quiet corner. Anywhere you won't be overheard. Headphones help.

  2. 02

Use any device with a camera

Phone, tablet, or laptop. A stable connection matters more than a fancy setup.

  3. 03

    Be in Texas

I'm licensed in Texas, so you need to be physically in the state during sessions. Travelling within Texas is fine.

  4. 04

    Join the link

You get a secure video link before each session. Click it at your time and I'll be there.

Online therapy: common questions

Is online therapy secure and confidential?

Yes. Sessions use HIPAA-compliant video, and the same confidentiality rules apply as in an office. The main variable is your end. Choose a private space where you can speak freely.

What if I'm not comfortable on video?

Most people feel awkward for about five minutes and then forget the screen is there. If it stays hard, tell me. We can adjust how we use the camera, and the awkwardness itself is often worth talking about.

Can I do sessions from work or my car?

Yes, as long as it's private. A parked car is one of the most common offices my clients use. Public places where you could be overheard aren't a good fit.

What if the connection drops?

It happens. We'll have a simple backup plan, usually a phone call to finish or reconnect. You won't lose the session.

Do you ever meet in person in Houston?

No. Safer Waters Therapy is fully online. If you need in-person care, I'm glad to point you toward Houston resources.

Is telehealth covered by BCBS and Cigna?

Yes. Both cover video therapy with in-network providers, and Headway confirms your specific benefit before the first appointment. See the BCBS and Cigna pages for details.
