What I help Houston adults with

Most people arrive carrying more than one of these. If yours isn't on the list, it's still worth a conversation.

Grief & Loss

Counseling after the death of someone you love.

Online grief counseling for Houston adults who have lost a spouse, parent, child, sibling, or close friend. Recent or years ago, expected or sudden. You set the pace, and nobody here will hurry you toward closure.

Grief Counseling in Houston

Anxiety

Treatment for worry, panic, and a mind that won't shut off.

Online anxiety therapy for adults in Houston. Racing thoughts, panic attacks, health worry, and the exhausting habit of preparing for disasters that never come. We figure out what keeps it going and build practical ways to turn it down.

Anxiety Therapy in Houston

Depression

For the heaviness that doesn't lift on its own.

Online depression therapy for adults in Houston. Low mood, numbness, exhaustion, losing interest in things you used to love, and the voice that says you should be handling this better. We work out what's feeding it and take practical steps back toward a life that feels like yours.

Depression Therapy in Houston

Trauma

Help for the past that keeps showing up in the present.

Online trauma therapy for adults in Houston. Accidents, assault, medical crises, childhood experiences, abusive relationships, or years of small things that added up. We start with stability, and you decide how fast we go.

Trauma Therapy in Houston

Relationships

Individual therapy for the patterns you keep landing in.

Individual therapy for Houston adults dealing with a marriage, family, or friendship that isn't working. We look at what keeps happening, what part of it is yours, and what you can actually change from your side.

Relationship Therapy in Houston (Individual)

Chronic Illness

Therapy for what a long-term diagnosis does to the rest of your life.

Online counseling for Houston adults living with a chronic health condition. The grief for the life you had, the dread before every appointment, the friends who stopped calling. Your medical team handles the disease. This is for everything else.

Chronic Illness Counseling in Houston

Life Transitions

Counseling through the changes that reshape who you are.

Online counseling for Houston adults in the middle of a big change: divorce, a layoff, a new baby, retirement, a move across the country, an empty house. Chosen or not, major change can leave you unmoored. This is where you find your footing.

Starting therapy

Three steps, no runaround

  1. 01

    Book a first session

Pick a time on Headway. It checks your BCBS or Cigna benefits and shows your cost before you commit. If you'd rather talk first, call or send a note.

  2. 02

    Meet from wherever you are

Sessions are 50 minutes by secure video. No office, no waiting room, no drive across Houston. You need a private spot and a decent connection.

  3. 03

    Go at your pace

The first session is about you: what's going on, what you're hoping for, and whether we're a good fit. From there we set a rhythm that works for your life.

We're probably a good fit if

  • You're an adult in Texas carrying something heavy, like grief, anxiety, a hard diagnosis, or a big change, and you're tired of carrying it alone.
  • You want a therapist who is warm and direct rather than clinical and distant.
  • You'd rather meet from home than add another drive to your week.
  • You want to use BCBS or Cigna, or pay privately, without a runaround.

A few honest limits

  • I work with adults, individually. No couples sessions or children.
  • You'll need to be physically in Texas during sessions. That's where I'm licensed.
  • This is not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, call or text 988 or 911.
  • As an LCSW I don't prescribe medication, but I'm glad to coordinate with someone who does.
Insurance & fees

In-network with BCBS and Cigna. Private pay, too.

Billing runs through Headway, which checks your benefits and tells you your copay before the first session. Details for BCBS members in Houston and Cigna members in Houston.

Questions people ask before they book

Do you see clients in person in Houston?

No. Safer Waters Therapy is online only. I'm based in Houston and licensed across Texas, so sessions happen by secure video from wherever you are in the state. For most people that's a plus: no commute, no waiting room, and easier to fit into a real week.

What do you specialize in?

Adults facing grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, chronic illness, and major life transitions. Many people come with more than one of these, which is fine. We work with your whole situation.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I'm in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna through Headway, which verifies your benefits and tells you your copay before the first session. Private pay is also available through Headway.

How do I get started?

The fastest way is to book directly on Headway: pick a time, enter your insurance, done. If you'd rather ask a question first, call (281) 829-8511 or use the contact form and I'll reply within a business day or two.

What happens in a first session?

We talk. I'll ask what brought you here, what you're hoping changes, and a bit about your history. You can ask me anything about how I work. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to, and by the end we'll both know whether this is a good fit.

Is online therapy as effective as in person?

For the concerns I treat, research consistently finds video therapy as effective as in-person care. Many people open up more easily from their own space. The main requirements are a private spot and a stable connection.
